Suggested Settings for Commercial Offsite Printing
- Image resolution 240 - 300 Dots Per Inch (DPI) at 100 % size of finished output. It is important to remember that the file should look crisp when viewing it at full size on your monitor. Just Enlarging a lower resolution imaged to 300 dpi for print will not give you satisfactory results.
- Mode should be set to CMYK
- File format Tagged Information Format (.tif)
- Suggested software for image management is Adobe PhotoShop
Suggested Settings for In-house Printing
- Image resolution should be 150 - 240 dpi
- Mode can be RGB or Grey Scale
- File format Tagged Information Format (.tif) or Joint Photographic Experts Group (.jpg)
- Suggested software for image management is Adobe PhotoShop
Suggested Settings for Web Page Images
- Images resolution should be kept to 72 dpi
- File format depends on the type of graphic you are working with and the amount of compression you are trying to achieve. In general, it is best to use the Graphic Interchange Format (.gif) when working with images that have flat areas of color such as icons, line drawings and logos. When working with continuous tone photographs it is best to use (.jpg) format. As an alternative, Portable Network Graphics (.png) can be use for ether flat colored or continuous tone graphics.
- Suggested software for image management is Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Image Ready or Macromedia Fireworks.
Suggested Video File Formats for PowerPoint
Audio Video Interleave (.avi) and Motion Pictures Expert Group 1 (.mpeg) are the most widely used video formats for PowerPoint. They can be inserted and run within a Power Point presentation. In order to use other video formats, a hyperlinked must be used. This also requires that a suitable player such as Apple's QuickTime or Windows Media Player be installed on the workstation.

- Frame rate 15fps
- Window size 320 X 240 pixels
- Audio Codec IMA 4:1, Sample rate 22.05, Bit depth 16, Channels mono
- Suggested software for video conversion is Cleaner 6 or QuickTime Pro
.mpg files:
- Codec mpeg1
- Frame rate 24 fps
- Window size 352 x 240 pixels
- Suggested software for video conversion is Cleaner 6 or QuickTime Pro
